Over the past months, I have taken a stab at sketch writing. My attempts at sketch writing mostly stem from the fact that I am enrolled in improvisation classes at the iO Theater in Chicago, and I performed in two sketch shows in the Chicago Sketchfest in January.

I am sharing this sketch inspired by the “Bernie Bro” phenomenon. It’s partly satirical, and partly an honest exploration of what it must be like on campuses for millennials to deal with statements from people like Gloria Steinem, who suggested the girls support Bernie Sanders to get with boys, and Madeleine Albright, who said there is a “special place in hell” for women who do not support fellow women.

The sketch was originally written for submission to a sketch writing contest at the Second City Training Center in Chicago. If accepted, a class of acting students would have performed the sketch. But the sketch was rejected. And so, because it is likely to be obsolete in a month or two, I am posting it now for others to hopefully enjoy.

It is posted under a Creative Commons license, meaning anyone can take it and perform it with their group if they would happen to like it. Anyone can steal the concept and rewrite it for a short video. Anyone can take it and use it for inspiration for their own satirical work. People can critique it, and give me tips on how to improve my sketch writing. All of the above is encouraged.
