Wendy Fonarow
Wendy Fonarow, PhD, is a Los Angeles based Anthropologist specializing in live music, ritual, and performance. Her expertise is in the area of the culture of indie music and American holidays. She is the author of Empire of Dirt: The Aesthetics and Rituals of British Indie Music (Wesleyan University Press 2006). She is an Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Glendale College. In addition to her academic endeavors, she has worked professionally in the music industry as an A&R manager, artist liaison, and consulting for Reprise Records, MCA, and Domino Records. She often gives interviews and talks at music industry and academic conferences in both the United States and Europe.
