New York Times Editors Mangle Story on False GOP Medicare Claims

Jackie Calmes is a decent reporter, and except for two disconnected paragraphs added, I suspect, by her dishonest editors, she wrote a worthwhile story for today’s New York Times. Calmes reports on the numerous misleading and outright false GOP claims about the changes to Medicare enacted in the Affordable Care

If We Have a Medicaid Problem, Where Are the Proposals to Fix It?

We have a national election coming up. We’re going to be electing an entire House of Representatives, 1/3 of the Senate, a President, and hundreds of state legislators and Governors. Where do they stand on one of the most important issues facing the country? Let’s ask them.

If We Have a Medicaid Problem, Where Are the Proposals to Fix It?

David Dayen and Jon Walker have been doing yeoman’s work keeping track of all the ways that the folks who either depend on Medicaid now or who hoped to have access under the Affordable Care Act are likely to be screwed by America’s dysfunctional political system and dysfunctional health care

Can We Have Darrell Issa Investigate the Supreme Court Leaks?

This is getting out of hand. In its zeal to uncover why Chief Justice Roberts betrayed the cause of liberty and made Sam, Tony and that other guy cry, every one in the right wing punditry is getting aides from the Court’s right wing to spill the beans on each other. Since CBS’ Jan Crawford first reported leaks from this team, we are now up to at least five leaks (h/t Rosen via DeLong), some in conflict, and none of whom appears to care about loyalty to the court or professional ethics.

AP Report: Romney Keeps “Mystery” Piggy Bank in Bermuda

Finally, Romney Straightens Us Out on When a Tax That Isn’t a Tax Is

I’ve noticed that many of you have become rather careless with the English language, and frankly, it’s just confusing the children. Recognizing the threat to the next generation’s ability to understand the news on Fox, America’s Family Man, Mitt Romney, bravely came forward today to clarify when a tax that isn’t a tax is really a tax.

JP Morgan, Barclays, Other Banksters Investigated for Manipulating Electricity Markets

The Financial Times reported yesterday that the Staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FECR) was investigating a number of electric power marketing affiliates owned by major banks — including JP Morgan Chase, Barclays and others, on charges of manipulating prices. Immediately, reporters starting wondering whether this is like Enron’s antics back in the early 2000s, which ripped off California consumers and decimated California’s flawed electricity markets. I don’t think so . . .
