Late Night FDL: All Through The Night

Cyndi Lauper-All Through The Night

Congrats to Cyndi, Sir Van, and the other honorees…

Cyndi Lauper, Van Morrison and Lady Gaga have all been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The stars received their honours at a three-hour ceremony in New York, and many expressed surprise in their acceptance speeches.

“I still can’t believe I make a living making music,” said Lauper. “I’m blown away.”

The Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia, was also inducted posthumously alongside the band’s lyricist Robert Hunter.

Country artists Toby Keith, who has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, and Bobby Braddock, who wrote Tammy Wynette’s DIVORCE, were also honoured.

And “poet laureate of the blues” Willie Dixon, who died in 1992, was cited for songs including Hoochie Coochie Man, I Just Want to Make Love to You and You Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover.

What’s on your mind tonite…?

I was playing my music the other day and had my front window open with the fan. I guess it was kind of loud.

So while coming back from my walk the guy across the street – 72 year old fella – said I heard the music you were playing the other day. I liked it, my kind of music. If you see me on the porch play it again. Especially the Stones.

we’ve been busting all kinda records this year – both for higher temps and lack of rain. didn’t have a single triple last summer even though it was warmer than average with a mess of 90’s. only below freezing cold spell was in november … felt more like a ca winter than an oregon. hope we don’t have a ca summer

*ugh* Wtf is wrong…? West Philly shooting: 7 people, incl. 2 kids critical after gunman ‘randomly’ fires in street

    Mind ya…

At least seven people, including a two-year-old and eleven-year-old child, were injured in West Philadelphia after a shotgun-wielding attacker fired into a street picnic, local police said. The children were hospitalized in critical condition.

The report comes almost simultaneously with news from a block party in Detroit, where one person was killed and 9 injured in a shooting on the same Saturday evening.

Cloudy, drizzly, then the sun comes through, got some drizzle on me while visiting Covent Garden/Market yesterday, but not worth the bother of carrying an umbrella. And I didn’t know about the march against austerity or I’d have been there. oh, well, I was a support group, out getting tea and cheese. My friends that I’m visiting tell me it keeps getting more packed every year.
