I am a host of Late Late Night FDL music and cartoon posts in addition to spending most evenings behind the FDL backstage curtain flipping levers. Retired from the Fremont (California) Police Department after 24 years of sworn and non-sworn duties, including Patrol and the Crimes Against Persons Unit. Currently living on the North Oregon Coast with Token, cutest dog in the world (10 lb category), where I enjoy taking non-crime scene photographs, writing at my own blog, TwoTonGreenBlog, and working backstage at Firedoglake.

In these days of hackers, cyber attacks, spooks infiltrating all areas of the internet to do their part in shaping narratives, I find my thoughts returning again and again to the nuances and implications of Arthur Silber’s most recent essay “The Internet as You Know It Will Cease to Exist, Part II”:
I wonder if the future of the internet so many have enjoyed so much is that it will become nothing more than a battlefield playground of spies v. spies v. even more spies while those of good intentions, of every stripe, move on to the next evolution of the post-internet world as we envision and create it.

Doin’ alright. We’re having a far longer Spring than usual. High in the mid-70°s, low humidity, light breezes. This is far from typical mid-May Deep South weather. While I’m enjoying the hell out if it, I’m troubled at all the “unusual weather” across the US – as well as across the world that I hear bits and pieces of despite the fact that the World’s Corporate Media seem to be colluding in suppressing comprehensive covverage of news of such impotance to all humans, not to mention way more critters and way, way more – by accepted consensus (always suspicious) – “non-sentinent” plants.

That is pretty much what Silber’s essay is about, and he discusses what he foresees what that work-around might be.
It’s not a bad thing and may very well be a better thing, for the proletariat anyway.
