Late Night FDL: I Feel Free
Eric Clapton will be celebrating his 70th Bday in a familiar haunt…
Eric Clapton will return to Madison Square Garden in New York to mark his 70th birthday, he’s confirmed.
He’ll appear on May 1 and 2, subject to football play-offs, with tickets on sale on March 20.
Slowhand, who opened the venue with Cream in 1968, has appeared there 45 times in his career.
He’s still given no word on whether he’s planning to retire, after suggesting he’d given thought to giving up on touring as his landmark birthday approached.
In 2014 he reported: “Next year I might do a couple of shows and say, ‘Folks, that’s it – I’m off.’ Then I’ll see what I make of that, whether I’m content to just go into the studio now and then and play at home for the family.”
Clapton will be inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame on May 7.
What’s on your mind tonite…?
