Late Night FDL: Flying In A Blue Dream
Joe is a busy beaver these days…
Joe Satriani is working on a follow-up to 2013?s ‘Unstoppable Momentum,’ reportedly at Skywalker Sound in California. He’s also planning a series of U.K. dates — his first in two years.
The nine announced stops begin on Nov. 1 in Manchester and conclude at London’s Eventim Apollo on Nov. 10. Satriani will be joined by Mike Keneally, Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller onstage. A list of the announced shows and cities for the Shockwave Tour is below. More dates are expected to be scheduled in the U.K. as well as in the U.S.
Satriani’s new album, his 15th, is due in July. By then, Satriani’s second-annual G4 Experience will be concluding. The music camp — which will also include appearances by Keneally and guitarists Guthrie Govan and Tosin Abasi — is set for June 28-July 2 at Cambria, Calif. Beller, Govan and Minnemann are all members of the Aristocrats.
All of this solo activity has contributed to the ongoing drought of new material from Chickenfoot, Satriani’s supergroup with Sammy Hagar. They haven’t released a new album since 2011. “I guess I’m partly to blame because of my busy schedule,” Satriani said late last year.
