It’s Friday folks and my midterms are over. Now to enjoy the rest of the time until finals week rolls around.

International Politics

– As journalist Gareth Porter explains on The Real News, Russia has a stake in the U.S.-Iranian agreement on Iran’s nuclear ambitions

– You might have read about the U.S. defending itself over its use of torture to the U.N., but I must place this article by a former Guantanamo Bay detainee here as it provides an essential understanding on what the issue is here: Accountability

– At a U.N. conference in Geneva, delegates warned the international body on the dangers of killer robots if no regulations are put in place

Middle East

– In a reversal of comments made months ago, the U.S. military is considering sending troops back to the Middle East to fight the Islamic State

– A rebel commander in Syria said al-Qaeda and the ISIL agreed to a truce and are joining forces

– Meanwhile, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIL, declared the organization is expanding and called for invasions into other countries, like Saudi Arabia

– Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is highly valued by Israeli officials as they have a friend in him

– The Kurds may still be a part of Iraq technically, but with the money they hold, they might as well be called independent.

– It is strange to think the U.S. can imagine getting away with paying off family members whose relatives it killed accidentally
