Obama’s Midterm Drag This Year Similar to 2010 and Bush’s in 2006

Significantly more voters plan to use their congressional vote to send a message of opposition to President Obama than as a sign of support for him. From Gallup:

Registered Voters' Use of Midterm Election Vote to Send Message to President

The margin by which people are sending a message of opposition to the President compared to support is remarkably similar to the 2010 and 2006 midterm elections. Both those elections saw the President’s party take huge congressional loses.

This is why you aren’t seeing much of Obama on the campaign trail, or in ads made by Democrats. He appears in a lot of Republicans ads though. The more voters think about Obama the worse it gets for Democrats.
