Steven Sotloff’s Family Says Obama-backed Syrian Rebels Sold Him To ISIS

Steven Sotloff

One of the American journalists killed by ISIS, Steven Sotloff, was reportedly sold to ISIS by the so-called “moderate” Syrian rebels backed by President Barack Obama. Sotloff’s brutal death at the hands of ISIS was used as justification for expanding military action against ISIS by Obama in his prime time address.

President Obama bypassed a law against arming terrorists to arm the “moderate” Syrian rebels to both oppose Assad and ISIS only to later call the idea a “fantasy.” But now Obama has decided to double down on the fantasy with significant military and financial support even possible military strikes within Syria without the approval of the US Congress.

Of course, if the rebels the Obama Administration is arming are selling Americans to ISIS the fantasy may really be a waking nightmare.

A spokesman for the family of Steven Sotloff told CNN that the slain American journalist was sold to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria militant group by “so-called moderate rebels” and the family’s relationship with the Obama administration is “strained.”…

“We believe these so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support – one of them sold him probably for something between 25,000 and 50,000 dollars and that was the reason he was captured,” Barfi said, citing “sources on the ground.”

They needed the money to fight people who might kill Americans, right? But don’t worry just because they sold an American to be beheaded does not mean the moderates would ever work with ISIS and Al Qaeda, right?

Actually the “moderates” have now agreed to a non-aggression pact with ISIS and Al Qaeda in alliance against the Assad government. This just keeps getting better and better.

Update: The White House has denied the Sotloff family’s claim that Steven was sold to ISIS by “moderate” ‘rebels seeking assistance from the United States
