Nancy Pelosi Doesn’t Think Obama Needs a Vote Before Starting a War in Syria Either

When a Republican eventually takes the White House there is no way Democrats will regret letting Obama set such a precedent.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sided with President Obama’s incredible claim that he legal authority to start wars on his own.

At a press conference on Thursday, Pelosi stated she doesn’t believe Congress needs to vote before the President can start what is effectively a multi-year military operation designed to change the regime in a sovereign country.

Pelosi, “Right now, we believe as the President has stated, that he has the authority he needs to take the action he described last night in his comprehensive strategy to destroy ISIS.”

She later added, “I do believe Congress has a role. What I did say though is what the President is doing now I think he has the legal authority to do. I know he does. I’ve studied the issue for a very long time.”

I’m sure that when a Republican eventually takes the White House there is no way Democrats will regret letting Obama set such an important and far reaching precedent. It is not like Republican presidents have every foolishly started ill-advised  and incredibly costly wars.
