‘Before I Die’ Project Goes Up to Help Ferguson Community Residents Heal

Boards with “Before I Die” at the top, which Ferguson community residents can write on, have appeared on an old boarded-up Ponderosa restaurant building on West Florissant Avenue, the same stretch of road where evening protests have been taking place since Michael Brown was shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer.

The “Before I Die” project is a part of an international art project. Boards have gone up in numerous cities from Aabenraa, Denmark, to West Haven, USA.

The project was launched by Candy Chang, who decided to transform an abandoned house in New Orleans into a public space for sharing hopes and dreams after a loved one died.

Here are photos of the boards that have gone up:

“I want to see the demilitarization of police forces.”

“I want to watch my kids graduate.”

“I want to see systematic reform.”
