International Politics

Overall

– The Institute for Economics and Peace released their Global Peace Index for 2014 where contemporary times are the “most peaceful century in human history.” In addition, Iceland was found to be the mots peaceful country.

– Britain will deliver aid to trapped Iraqis, however they ruled out air strikes; The U.S., however, bombed Islamic State militants to prevent “genocide

– Both the U.S. and U.K. warned Russia not to send troops to Ukraine with the excuse of humanitarian intervention

Middle East

– Journalist Samer Badawi discusses with The Real News how the destruction in Gaza surpasses what happened during after Operation Cast Lead a few years ago

– Darn. Terrible news as a Palestinian was killed and others were wounded in the West Bank by Israeli soldiers as they protested crimes in Gaza

– The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas ended and five Palestinians were killed by Israeli missiles; As expected, Western condemnation of the renewed violence
