Last night John Oliver interviewed Stephen Hawking, who confirmed his notion that the world could face a Battlestar Gallactica-style future at the hands of the machines:

Artificial intelligence could be a real danger in the not-too-distant future. It could design improvements to itself and outsmart us all.

Although he posits a theory of infinite universes, in none of them does Oliver get the chance to date Charlize Theron apparently.

He also said he thought that “imaginary time” was a concept that had not yet been explored in science fiction because simply authors don’t understand it.

Cue the keyboards of an infinite number of science fiction writers googling “imaginary time.”
