Late Night: The Plot Thickens – Bergdahl Smearer Received OTH Discharge
One of the first things many folk were saying last week about #Bergdahlghazi, especially after reading the June 2012 Rolling Stone article by Michael Hastings about Bowe Bergdahl and the basket case of a unit in which he served, was something along the lines of “Gee, wonder if the people leading the charge against Bergdahl are trying to cover up for being incompetent, malfeasant, and/or otherwise godawful?”
Some evidence to that effect may well have been provided (h/t TeamSarah4Choice), as it turns out that former Army Sergeant Josh Korder, a Minnesotan who had served in Bergdahl’s unit and who was one of the persons gathered up by Republican strategist Richard Grenell and spammed to the media, is the recipient of an “OTH” or Other Than Honorable discharge from the Army. (Korder, by the way, is the guy who was spewing the “six guys died” lie.)
By the way, it seems that according to the 2012 Rolling Stone piece, the main reason some people in his unit hated Bergdahl is because he was too good, and showing them up:
“He showed up, looked like a normal Joe,” says former Specialist Jason Fry, who is now studying for a master’s in theology. “When he first got to the unit, he was the leadership’s pet. He read the Ranger Handbook like no other. Some people resented him for it.”
Don’t expect to hear any of this on the national evening TV news anytime soon.
