Boehner Is the Real Coward on Immigration
Apparently Speaker John Boeher (R) is so annoyed by the refusal of many in his caucus to address immigration reform he openly mocked his members while back in his district. From Cincinnati.com:
“Here’s the attitude. Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,” Boehner whined before a luncheon crowd at Brown’s Run County Club in Madison Township.
“We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems and it’s remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don’t want to … They’ll take the path of least resistance.”
I find it comically hypocritical that Boehner would attack conservatives for refusing to make tough choices because ultimately the failure of immigration reform this session is entirely Boehner’s fault. Every complaint he is making about his members on immigration should be made ten fold about Boehner.
An immigration reform bill passed the Senate. All Boehner has to do is bring it to the floor in the House and it would likely pass ,thanks to strong Democratic support and some Republicans votes. Boehner has the power to make it happen but so far has refused to use it.
While it would be politically risky to defy his party, he is the one claiming members were elected to solve problems. Instead, he is the one who has taken the path of least resistance.
