Cartoon Friday Watercooler: Verstaubt

It’s Cartoon Friday, again!

A roomba traveling through a room, photographed by its operational lights in a long exposure shot.

A roomba’s journey, shown here in a long exposure photograph, is not so fraught as the little vacuum’s adventures in today’s cartoon.

Tonight’s offering is Verstaubt, an adorable trifle created in CGI. From the film makers’ description:

Verstaubt is a short movie about a clumsy vacuum cleaner.

At his daily work it happens an unforseeable disaster…

This computer generated movie was made at the university Hochschule der Medien in Germany. It was a semester project so we had only 4 months to make it.

The team consisted of Steffen Kuderer, Frank Rosenkränzer, and Daniel Schröfe. Check out Kuderer and Rosenkränzer home pages for more examples of their talented work in animation and visual effects. There is also a behind-the-scenes video for Verstaubt.

Today’s little vacuum cleaner certainly has a better attitude about its mundane purpose than the butter robot we discussed in last week’s Rick & Morty chat.
