Late Night: Obama “Between Two Ferns” with Zach Galifianakis
In a push to get young adults to sign up for the Affordable Care Act before the March 31 deadline, President Obama met last month to tape an episode with Zach Galifianakis for “Between Two Ferns,” the comedian’s mock interview webseries on Funny or Die.com.
The segment received over two million hits since it launched today, and is the number one referrer to Healthcare.gov, according to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
It’s also funny, mainly because Obama does a great job of acting really uncomfortable, except when discussing the ACA.
Does it demean the office of the President? Oh Obama’s done fine on his own. Golfing on a green course during California’s drought was pretty low. And besides, other Presidents have gone all pop culture to win the hearts and minds of the masses: Gerald Ford appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” and George W. Bush taped a bit for “Deal or No Deal.”
