Paula Deen Can Relate to “That Black Football Player” aka Michael Sam

Paula Deen WTF? Lard-brained former TV chef proves the stupid will rise again. While trying to explain to People magazine her empathy for  celebrities under media scrutiny, Deen said:

I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name. It’s like that black football player who recently came out. He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.

No Paula, you don’t know what Michael Sam is saying. “Embattled” and “disgraced” don’t do you justice, though “still racist” and “ignorant” work fine.  You became disgraced and embattled through ignorance and stupidity. Michael Sam–that’s his name, Michael Sam–is a good football player and while being an openly gay draft pick is a first, because of progressive social norms and what hopefully will be many successes on the playing field, Sam’s sexuality won’t matter to the handful of people who are all freaked out about something that is really the least interesting thing about the NFL draft pick.

But your continued ignorance and racism, as demonstrated by the use of

that black

is something that will stay firmly in people’s mind, despite the $75 to $100 million private equity firm Najafi Cos. recently invested in the company Paula Deen Ventures.
