Colorado Pot Was the No. 3 News Story Last Week

Economy, Health Care Draw More Interest than Colo. Marijuana Opening

The rest of America is truly watching Colorado right now.

According to Pew Research, the opening of marijuana retail stores in Colorado was the third most closely followed news story last week. Only news about the economy and long awaited rollout of President Obama’s signature health care law garnered more attention.

How well the implementation of Colorado’s retail marijuana stores is perceived to be going over the next few months could play a huge role in shaping the debate over marijuana reform for the next decade.

Many Americans are still taking a wait and see approach before making up their minds about Colorado’s new law but opinions should start to form relatively quickly. Once people have made an initial judgement it can be very difficult to get them to change their minds.

You only get one chance to make a first impression.
