Over Easy: The Kelly Thomas Trial
At first glance, if one had not heard of Kelly Thomas, one might mistakenly conclude that he was a drug abuser, and it was ‘only a matter of time’ before ‘something like this’ happened. Kelly Thomas was a homeless man, who was brutally beaten, tased, and beaten some more, as he lay in the street unarmed, crying for his father. He died two days later. His before and after photos look as if he is not the same person, his face was so brutally beaten. His killers are police officers in Fullerton, California.
Kelly also had a mental illness, schizophrenia, which added to and aggravated the fear, terror and confusion of his last moments of suffering. The beating was taped on a camera, mounted on a pole. That tape is really all I need to see. These officers beat a helpless man to death under color of badge and joked about it, because they knew they would get away with it.
Sorry I am late today! I have to go downtown, but will update here in a moment.
