Most Uninsured Still Haven’t Visited

This is some mixed news for the Obama administration. According to Gallup, the vast majority of the uninsured haven’t gone to yet.

Have you personally gone to, or attempted to go to, a government health insurance exchange website since the Internet-based health exchanges opened on October 1, or not?

On the plus side, this poll shows the administration still has few weeks to fix the website before this becomes a serious problem. There really is no good reason to select an insurance plan on the exchange before December and it seems most of the uninsured realize that. If the administration does fix the site by late November the vast majority of uninsured Americans’ first experience with will be a functioning site. Only a relatively small number of people will have experienced the early problems.

Of course if the administration doesn’t fix the site by November this problem is set to expand exponentially. The number of people who will be directly inconvenienced by the broken website will grow rapidly as we approach January.
