Sen. John McCain has signed on to Lindsey Graham’s plan to slow down every confirmation over the issue of Benghazi, even the confirmation of people who’s positions have nothing to do with security or foreign policy. From the Wall Street Journal:

GOP Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham will attempt to delay confirmation of Janet Yellen to lead the Federal Reserve in a bid to obtain information from the Obama administration about the attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, Mr. McCain said Wednesday. […]

“That’s the only way we get their attention,” Mr. McCain said in an interview Wednesday evening. “It’s the only way we get any response.” Mr. Graham’s office confirmed he would also hold up Ms. Yellen’s nomination to press for more information about the Benghazi attacks.

It is worth repeating that this is no way to run a sane country.

The senate rules governing confirmation are ridiculous. A minority in the Senate shouldn’t have the power to slow down every aspect of our massive federal government over one stupid political hobby horse. The government can’t stop for every political fight. The founders never intended the Senate to behave in this manner and it is clearly past time the Senate changes its silly rules to stop this altogether.
