Hello everyone. Hope you had a great weekend.

Government Shutdown, Day 12 and 13

– Just FOUR days until default occurs (then you can march in the streets and establish a socialist utopia, but a person can dream, can’t they?) Live coverage of what is occurring so far like the White House is “downplaying” a short-term debt deal.

– Senate talks on restoring government in deadlock, however the GOP has given up on Obamacare.

– Sen. Harry Reid (D – NV) is “confident” the fiscal crisis can be averted

– As Senate debates over what to do, Obama is “out of sight

– Despite polls showing drop of confidence in the GOP and potential rise with Democrats, only 26% of Americans, according to Gallup, want a one-party government.

– The world is preparing for the US debt default.

– During House negotiations, some poking was involved between a staffer for Eric Cantor and a Democratic Representative (no actually “altercation” occurred”)

International Developments

– Workers from the Red Cross have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Syria.

– Despite Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s protests at the UN, the US has continued with its drone strikes.

– “Many Mexican Deportees from the U.S. Cross Into a World of Swindlers, Drug Lords and Violence”

– “Whatever happened to those Somali Pirates?

– “Reports that the US arrest of a senior Taliban commander was carried out despite his being in the custody of the Afghan government threatened on Saturday to overshadow talks between the US secretary of state, John Kerry, and Afghan president Hamid Karzai. The talks are part of a last-ditch effort to negotiate a security pact which would determine, among other things, how many US troops stay in the country after 2014.

“For Israeli soldiers, social media has become a showcase of horrors” [cont’d.]
