Obama’s Approval on the Economy Drops Sharply

Over the past two months President Obama’s overall job approval rating is down only slightly but his approval rating on the issue of the economy has dropped significantly. According to Gallup, since June the number of people who approve of his handling of the economy is down 7 points. Now almost twice as many people disapprove of his handling of the economy (62%) as approve (35%). From Gallup:

I find the drop interesting because it doesn’t seem to have any obvious cause. There has been no big legislative developments in the past two months and new unemployment claims are the lowest they have been since 2007.
