WATCH: Holder Speaks About Drug Policy Reform

Attorney General Eric Holder will be addressing the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco. He plans to talk about problems with the drug war and outline steps the Obama administration hopes to take to reduce the prison population. A full transcript of his remarks can be found here.

Holder is expected to push for Congress to adopt legislation to reform federal minimum sentencing laws for drug cases and outline ways he plans to have federal prosecutors reduce the impact of current minimum sentencing laws in certain cases.

Despite having only five percent of the world’s population, the United States has 25 percent of the world’s prison population.
