Signs: Let Women Choose, Go Wendy Go! Men In Suits Are Not Qualified To Make WOmen's Choices

Will women and men continue to stand strong against Perry’s agenda?

Tonight’s musical selection is “Bye Bye Beautiful” by Nightwish, from their album Dark Passion Play.

The day after. All of us nursing our #SB5hangover. There’s a strange feeling of elation at seeing what people can accomplish, mixed with the inevitable comedown as Perry predictably announces that another special session is coming so he can force through his woman-hating agenda. We’ve a long battle ahead, and given that the citizens are not the ones with a real voice in our current system, Perry can probably force through the legislation eventually. Another bill, #Sb23, that the filibuster unintentionally killed will also be reintroduced — it would allow the state of Texas to put 17 year olds to death.

The people’s voice is loudest of all, but the state can still overrule it with its guns, its parliamentary procedure, and its ALEC money. The trick in this moment will be to turn our fight into one that inspires women and men to keep struggling, to rise up against the oppression of the state — rather than letting the near impossible odds demoralize us and scatter the powerful energy we created last night in the Capitol rotunda.

I’m still sorting out my feelings on it all.
