Michelle Bachmann is Out

Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn) has decided not to seek a fifth term in Congress. She announced her decision to step down this morning in a very long video.

Bachmann goes out of her way to claims she didn’t not decide to retire because Democrat Jim Graves recently decided to enter the race or because her 2012 Presidential campaign is under investigation.

While Bachmann is an incredibly fundraiser with so passionate supporters without her in the race the Republican chances of keeping the seat have probably been improved by her retirement. The 6th district leanings strongly Republican. Assuming the GOP can recruit a generic candidate they will probably be better off than having to defend a controversial lighting rod like Bachmann
