Watercooler: Cartoon Friday

Hi, y’all.

Here’s a wonderfully bizarre animation from 1983, which according to Wikipedia was a short that played before the film Nineteen Eighty-Four in the United Kingdom:

Skywhales is a 1983 animated short film that depicts a fictional society of alien creatures dwelling in the atmosphere of a gas giant. The film is notable for the completeness of its depiction of a fictitious society, including alien language, flora, fauna, and social structures and practices.

There’s seems to be very little on the Internet about this weird little film. If the alien speech is too much for you at first, give it a few more seconds and it will suck you into its world.

Feel free to suggest future Cartoon Friday installments. Or tell me what’s on your mind tonight?

This is our latest MyFDL open thread.
