Smooth 70s music break – The Spinners and Boz Scaggs

Just in a wistful mood…I heard this classic on the radio this morning and it just made me feel so good, taking me back to the days of listening to my late Aunt Judi‘s 45s in the basement in Queens. This live version of The Spinners‘ “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love” is from a PBS special. The studio version is a classic mix of 70s soul, strings, horns…miss it madly.

I’m glad that the 102.9 station here ( switched formats — it’s now a nice mix of classic pop, rock and soul from 60s, 70s and 80s. This song was also played this AM. I’m a child that grew up listening to a variety of popular genres. It’s sad so many stations are narrowcasted to particular demographics, so you don’t get the mix of aural styles and textures. The Boz Scaggs hit “Lowdown” is featured on the slamming soundtrack of the 1977 hit “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” one of those elusive flicks STILL not released on DVD.
