In 2007, Apple Inc. settled its trademark dispute with Apple Corps (which owns the famous Apple Records granny smith logo).  But Patently Apple is reporting that as of Wednesday, the logo is now a registered trademark of Apple Inc, who will license it back to Apple Corps.

They report that the settlement “included terms that were confidential, although newspaper accounts at the time stated that Apple Computer was buying out Apple Corps’ trademark rights for a total of $500 million U.S.”

Steve Jobs always regretted the litigation with Apple Corps, and would no doubt be delighted that the acquisition was complete.  John Lennon, maybe not so much.
