It's been a Brain-in-a-Blender kinda week, eh?

It’s been one of those weeks again where I just don’t know which story to discuss, so I wind up trying to discuss them all.

— Former General Electric and NBC boss Jack Welch, a world-class jerk who gave former Republican National Committee chair Roger Ailes NBC’s newsroom to trash in what would turn out to be the warm-up gig before Ailes wound up running FOX News for the Murdochs and the RNC, projects GOP (and his own) sleaziness onto Democrats like a multiplex projects movies. This time around, he’s attributing to Obama, without any evidence, the same sort of underhanded crap that was shown to have been done by Welch’s good buddy, the one president ever to face impeachment for legitimate reasons, Dick Nixon:

As first recounted by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in their 1976 book “Final Days,” the frequently paranoid president — who had a history of anti-Semitic outbursts — became obsessed with the idea that a “Jewish cabal” at BLS was undermining him by issuing negative labor numbers. Nixon ordered his subordinates to tally up the number of Democrats and Jews in the agency.

“There’s a Jewish cabal, you know, running through this,” Nixon fumed in July 1971 to his chief of staff, H.R. “Bob” Haldeman, according to White House tapes. “…And they all — they all only talk to Jews. Now, but there it is. But there’s the BLS staff. Now how the hell do you ever expect us to get anything from that staff, the raw data, let alone what the poor guys have to say [inaudible] that isn’t gonna be loaded against us? You understand?”

This is how Nixon flunky, dog cooker and Romney backer Fred Malek became known as “Nixon’s Jew Counter”.

Speaking of funny numbers: Jack Welch’s pride and joy, GE Capital, is in hot water now over its involvement in the infamous Petters Ponzi Scheme.

— Just in case you weren’t totally sure about this, Jack Welch actalike and lookalike Alan Simpson guaranteed that everyone now knows how much he hates people who weren’t born into wealth and/or power like he was: “I get so damn sick and tired of listening to the little guy, the vulnerable, the veteran…” So of course Alan Simpson just loves Paul Ryan, because Paul Ryan hates you, too.

— You may have heard about the unseasonably-early five to fourteen inches of snow that visited the northwestern corner of Minnesota this week. If the ALEC-inspired voter suppression legislation the Minnesota GOP got onto the ballot for next month as a constitutional amendment had been in effect today, the poor folks in that area likely wouldn’t have been able to pay for all that snow removal. Why? Because the ALEC unfunded mandate would have soaked up all the money for it. In Kittson County alone, the county government would have to shell out $730,000 — or $160 for every single resident of the county — to pay for something whose net effect is not to stop any fraud, but to keep voters from voting. And more Minnesotans are noticing this.

So what’s been happening in your neck of the woods?
