Some may think that kind hearted, compassionate, critically thinking foul mouthed lefty women and men who visit and share at Firedoglake are Hooligans.

There are variations of the definition of Hooligan.

Some are tied to youth…

hooligan [?hu?l?g?n]
n
Slang a rough lawless young person
[perhaps variant of Houlihan, Irish surname] from the Freedictionary.

I’m not a youth, but I’m slowing getting over that.

Some are tied to football…

A thug who regularly goes to football matches and starts fights with opposing supportersĀ fromUrban Dictionary.

I’m not sure I qualify as a thug at a football game.

Some are tied to Irish musicians…

There are several theories regarding the origin of the word hooliganism. The Compact Oxford English Dictionary states that the word may have originated from the surname of a fictional rowdy Irish family in a music hall song of the 1890s from Wikipedia.

I may not be fictional, but it might be preferred. I am a musician who has Irish roots, however.

So, are you a Hooligan, or not?
