Occupy Caravan on the Road to #NatGat

Occupy Caravan is one week young today. The Caravan started in California last Monday with one group leaving from San Francisco and a second from Los Angeles. The two groups have taken different routes as they travel east for the Occupy National Gathering in Philadelphia.

As the Occupy Caravan proceeds across the country, there are planned stops at cities along the way where they are being greeted, fed, housed, and entertained by local Occupiers.

The southern route which left from Los Angeles has so far stopped in Las Vegas, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, and last night in Dallas.

The central route from San Francisco has so far stopped in Reno, in the desert in Elko, Salt Lake City, Denver, Wichita, and last night in Little Rock.

If anyone is interested in helping the Caravan financially so they can put more cars on the road to enable more people to travel to Philly for the National Gathering, go to OccupyCaravan.com.

In a number of locations, the host Occupy groups have organized Occupy actions. Here is a photo and livestream of the back action organized by Occupy Phoenix.

Mama, mama can’t you see,
what big banks have done to me.
They gamble, steal, they like they cheat!
They threw me off my property.
They threw us out and in the street.

Here is the livestream of Occupy Caravan marching with (un)Occupy Albuquerque in Albuquerque, New Mexico last Wednesday. Scotty is stoked!

Yesterday the two Caravan groups met briefly in Okemah, Oklahoma for a joint celebration in the town where Woodie Guthrie grew up. The two groups separated again with the LA group traveling through Texas and the SF group traveling through Arkansas and Mississippi.

The two groups will meet in New Orleans on Tuesday for the final stretch to Philly where Occupy NOLA will be rolling out the red carpet.

After the Caravan leaves New Orleans, it will travel to Birmingham, Alabama. Along the way, Occupy Mobile plans a warm greeting.

After leaving Birmingham, the Caravan has planned stops in Athens Georgia, Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, and Washington DC. Other Caravan routes are planned from the Midwest, Upstate New York, and New England. All will be meeting in Philadelphia on June 30 for the start of the Occupy National Gathering.
