Two nights ago, without warning, Mayor Byron Brown ordered the Buffalo Police to raid and dismantle the encampment of Occupy Buffalo protesters who have been peacefully occupying Niagra Park for over 100 days, in compliance with their agreement with the City.

During the raid, the city brought in tanks and bulldozers to remove the tents and personal belongings of the occupiers. Their property is now sitting outdoors in a pile at the Department of Public Works, exposed to the elements.

According to organizers of Occupy Buffalo, among the many things seized that night were people’s prescriptions, and one of the occupiers needs his insulin. But the Department of Public Works is refusing to allow the occupiers to have their belongings.

Call Buffalo Public Works Commissioner Steven J. Stepniak, Mayor Byron Brown and the Buffalo City Council to demand that they immediately return the property of the Occupy Buffalo protesters before their offices close for the weekend. Their high-handed thuggery on behalf of the NFTA, Governor Cuomo and fat-cat developers is endangering people’s lives.
