Since when is NOM God?

Family Research Council’s “Prayer Target” for today includes this statement:

Unless God intervenes, Governor Chris Gregoire will succeed in her effort to legalize same-sex “marriage” in Washington State.

If God’s intervention is what’s needed, why has National Organization for Marriage promised to parachute into Washington to run a referendum campaign in an effort to repeal any marriage equality law passed?

If God’s intervention is what’s needed, why is National Organization for Marriage promising to spend $250,000 to try to unseat Washington state legislators who vote for the marriage equality bill?

If God’s intervention is what’s needed, why did representatives from National Organization for Marriage, Alliance Defense Fund and the Ruth Institute — national anti-gay organizations — travel across country to testify against the marriage equality bill this week in Olympia, Washington?

There’s plenty of intervention happening in Washington, and it’s not God who is responsible, it’s NOM and associates. Opponents of marriage equality need to own that truth and the anti-gay animus that fuels their opposition to pro-family policy.
