Montana move to recall Congress delegation over NDAA vote
I have despised that pip-squeak Markos Molitsas and the ersatz Keith Olbermann, Lawrence O’Donnell, ever since they tag teamed Dennis Kucinich over not drinking the Koolaid on Obamacare on MSNBC.
I was born and raised in Montana (Fort Benton High School; Class of 1983); now live in Utard. My friend sent me this amazing link from DK. (A site for Vichy Democrats I used to read before I discovered FDL)
Montanans Launch Recall of Senators Who Approved NDAA Military Detention
Fake Dems Sen. Jon Tester (fat sack of dung from my home county), Sen. Max Baucus the most corrupt and amoral Senator West of Joe Liberman plus sole Rep. Denny Rehberg, Tea Party scum all face recall efforts.
Paraphrasing From the article: Montana is one of nine states that allow for recall of their Federal delegation. Usually this is a mechanism to recall someone over felony convictions or mental/physical incapacity. One of the criterion is for failure to uphold the oath of office.
In this case, the unholy trinity are seen to have ‘violated’ their oath by not upholding their pledge to uphold the Constitution. Their affirmative votes on NDAA; specifically violating the 6th Amendment right to a jury trial.
This is fascinating challenge to hold Congress members accountable which is coming from the libertarian right in Montana more than any OWS movement. The Oath Keepers are behind this.
From Wikipedia:
MSNBC’s political commentator, Patrick J. Buchanan, quoted Alan Maimon in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, as saying “Oath Keepers, depending on where one stands, are either strident defenders of liberty or dangerous peddlers of paranoia.” Mr. Buchanan explained their existence on the alienation of white America, concluding that “America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right.”
Rehberg is running against Tester in a close race where the Dem is holding his own for 2012. Baucus, one of the true villains of Ron Suskind’s book Confidence Men is up in 2014.
Anyone got any insights on this? Is cooperating with these ultra right Constitutionalists something Progressives should get behind? Do the ends justify the means? More importantly, can it be successful?
