Run for U.S. Congress as an Independent

Crosspost from IfLizWereQueen

The requirements for running as an Independent for U.S. Congress or the Senate vary from state to state and so does the quality of the information they provide on their websites.  In order to get your name on the ballot in 2012 as an Independent, you must know and fulfill all the state elections requirements.

Since they are not uniform from state to state, you must begin by accessing the Secretary of State (S.O.S) office for your state–either online or by calling their offices and asking directly:  What are the requirements for running/filing as an Independent candidate for U.S. Congress (or the Senate if you have those ambitions).

In a recent post titled, Don’t Believe the Hogwash about not Participating in the System, I posted great detail regarding how to file in Texas.  I hope that in 2012 we have at least one 99% Independent candidate from every Congressional district in our State.

The voting system in the USA is set up to discourage Independent candidates from participating in the elections process.  The Wall Street Leadership of both the Democrat and the Republican/Tea party bunch want to limit their competition to the One Wall-Street-Size-Fits-All that they began to craft in earnest in 1987 when the leadership of BOTH parties formed a legal 501(c)(3) corporation together called “The Commission on Presidential Debates.Walter Cronkite referred to it as “the greatest fraud ever perpetuated on the American people and he was right.  This corporation is supported with donations from Wall Street and in spite of its existence for almost 25 years, I doubt that even 25% of Americans know of its existence–the most solid proof that what we have running in Washington today is a one party system that should be called “Wall Street Investors”

Your starting place is the website for the Secretary of State for your state.  It is the Secretary of State who oversees the elections in each state.  In most cases, I recommend beginning with a phone call to the SOS office in your state and simply asking.  Where, specifically can I find detailed information regarding the requirements for an Independent to get their name on the ballot in 2012 as a US Congressional Representative or a U.S. Senator.

If they tell you, and you still can’t find it, then call them back.  It’s OK. Don’t be humble.  Remember, after all you are paying them to help you.  You don’t have to apologize for their lack of ability to communicate effectively.  And also, it is good to remember to be kind as most likely the person who answers the phone is just another American who has been poorly trained for his/her job so that more money can go to support Wall Street Investors and who fears daily the thought of losing their job.
