OCCUPY CONGRESS in 2012!
Well, the elites have shown their true colors. Chris Hedges wrote the best piece in reaction to the goon squads taking over the OWS camps. Here is a brief excerpt from it so you can see what I mean:
“. . .The elites with their baton wielding cops , , ,think we will all go home and accept their corporate nation, a nation where crime and government policy are indistinguishable. . . .Get back into your cages, they are telling us. Return to watching the lies, absurdities, trivia and celebrity gossip we feed you in 24-hour cycles on television. Invest your emotional energy in the vast system of popular entertainment. Run up your credit card debt. . . Be thankful for the scraps we toss. Chant back to us our phrases about democracy, greatness and freedom. Vote in our rigged political theater. Send your young men and women to fight and die in useless, unwinnable wars that provide corporations with huge profits. Stand by mutely as our bipartisan congressional super committee, either through consensus or cynical dysfunction, plunges you into a society without basic social services including unemployment benefits. Pay for the crimes of Wall Street. . . .”
Chris is right. Furthermore, the 1% have been dishing it out so long that they don’t notice that the 99% have turned out the lights and gone home, but they will notice in November of 2012 because all the kings money and all the kings thugs are not going to buy them enough votes to win their elections.
And we won’t be choosing between two of THEIR hand-selected candidates: a Frick Democrat or a Frack Republican/Tea Party nut. We will be running our own candidates from the 99%. We don’t need money to win. We have the votes and we can and will defeat them at the ballot.
If you are a member of the 99% and if you are willing and able, run for U.S. Congress in your district. Look into it now because in a lot of states such as Texas, you must file your intent to run with the Texas Secretary of State before the end of the year. Go here for your free instructions.
Libya is about to get a taste of “freedom” American Style. It will be interesting to see if the people there go gently into the dark night of debt slavery perpetuated by the wealthy few.
As I drove home from work a few days ago, I listened to two speakers on Public Radio as they discussed the “need” for explaining how things will work under the new regime that the West has in mind for them. They realized that it is going to take some time to “change the mentality and expectations of Libyans.” One of the guests in the discussion said that currently Libyans pay for their gasoline in cents, not dollars and many of them have expectations that gasoline will be even cheaper once the new government is established. Another guest mentioned that all Libyans had free electricity while another said “That will have to end.” And then there are the issues of healthcare and education–again all free to all Libyan people. They all spoke in unison about “ending the welfare state.” Sure that’s just what the people want–“freedom” to support banks and Wall Street corporations as organizations like the IMF assist these criminals in plundering their nation.
When all the people of a nation share the wealth of the nation it’s called a “welfare state”, “socialism”, “communism” by Wall Street and Washington and labeled “evil”. When Wall Street corporations dispense the wealth of a nation back to the people on a “for profit” basis to reward their wealthy CEOs and shareholders, it’s called “free enterprise.”
It’s free enterprise all right–free enterprise and “freedom” for the rich to plunder the wealth of a nation. ”Free” enterprise for whom? is a good question that I hope Libyan citizens will be asking in the weeks and months to come as representatives from the western corporations try to mold Libya into the same debt-ridden nation that Europe and the USA have become.
It will be interesting to see what unfolds in Libya and if the minions from the West will be able to mold Libya, a debt free nation, into a debt-ridden corporate slave state. IMF has no business whatsoever in Libya. If there are any leaders in Libya who care about their nation, they will bar any discussions with this heinous group of criminals. Furthermore, IMF has no business in Libya as there is no debt for them to “restructure.”
An Economist Explains What Transpired in Libya and I agree with him.
Adrian Salbuchi, an Argentine economist, explains the Libyan drama succinctly : Salbuchi said Gaddafi’s death was undoubtedly a message for the whole world, as it is not just about Libya.
“We are seeing how Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State expressed it very clearly: ‘We came, we saw, he died,’ and then started laughing. This is a message to the world of how this new world order model actually works,” he stated. “When they decide to change the regime, they do so with the utmost violence, and it is a whole model. First they target a country by calling it a rogue state; then they support local terrorists and call them freedom fighters; then they bring death and destruction upon civilians and they call it UN sanctions. Then they spread lies and call it the International Community’s opinion expressed by the Western media. Then they invade and control the country and call it liberation and finally they steal appetizing oil and call it foreign investment and reconstruction,” Salbuchi explained. [Source]
