“Congress has no opposition to the Sale”

This from todays Gulf Daily News – Oct 18, 2011
“MANAMA: Washington has finalised a $53 million (BD20m) weapons package for Bahrain to help protect it from foreign aggression, a top US diplomat revealed yesterday. The deal, which includes armoured Humvees and missiles, had drawn criticism after some wrongly claimed they could be used against Bahraini civilians.

However, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Arabian Gulf Stephen Seche revealed the sale would go through as part of an initiative to defend Bahrain from attack by rogue states, with tensions increasing across the region following revelations of an Iranian attempt to assassinate a Saudi ambassador on US soil.

“Congress has expressed no opposition to this sale,” said Mr Seche, who holds the rank of ambassador in the US State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, during a roundtable meeting at the US Embassy in Zinj yesterday.  US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Persian Gulf Stephen Seche is one of Hillary’s man servants.

He described Bahrain as a key partner and warned the US would respond to any threats from Iran.”

ILWQ Analysis

First of all, there is opposition in Congress to this arms sale from BOTH sides of the aisle so calling Seche a liar may not be polite, but it is accurate.

Five Democratic senators – Robert Casey Jr. (Penn.), Richard Durbin (Ill.), Benjamin Cardin (Md.), Robert Menendez (N.J.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.) — wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to express their concern about the arms deal.

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, also weighed in, urging Clinton in a letter to delay the sale of any item that could be used to disrupt peaceful dissent. (Source: Washington Post 10/13/2011)

Now we understand the reason for all the recent fuss about Iran

Now do  you understand the reason for the recent posturing and fluffing of the Wall Street owned Congressional feathers in Washington over Iran? Well, they had to come up with some reason to justify the sale of arms to Bahrain, a nation that is brutalizing its citizens and sending its doctors to prison for years, and what better way to do it than to raise the specter of boogeyman Iran–always a favorite for justifying arms sales.

But you want to know a few of the real reasons for selling arms to Bahrain? Then look to the various Wall Street investments of Congressional members into War Profiteers and you’ll find the root cause.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) $28,872,067 $38,209,020

Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif) $2,684,050 $6,260,000 (no longer in Congress, but this explains her stance as a hawk)

My wish for Americans is that more of us start making connections between what happens on Wall Street and in Washington and what happens to the 99% living on Main Street and then that we do something about before it’s too late.  Currently, Occupy Wall Street is the best force we have going to accomplish this.
