Late Night FDL: Occupation Everywhere – And You Can Help
Of course, the corporate media are for the most part acting like Mr. Jones in Bob Dylan’s “Ballad of a Thin Man” (see also the video above), being elaborately and deliberately obtuse, either ignoring or mocking this movement. But when even Republican presidential candidates are forced to acknowledge its power — one by attacking its members, another by aligning himself with them — you know it’s not a flash in the pan.
Our own Kevin Gosztola has been covering Occupy Wall Street from the beginning, and he’s going to Washington D.C. where he’ll be covering the Occupy K Street and October 2011 protests. After that he’s going back to New York, where he’ll be reporting live from Occupy Wall Street.
Want to be a part of it all? It’s easy: Just donate $10 to sponsor Kevin’s important coverage, and help keep him on the road. For about the price of a paperback copy of A Game of Thrones, you can enable Kevin to keep covering this movement and showing up the establishment media at every turn.
By the way, there’s a new, easy way to pitch in on a sustained and sustaining basis. If you like, you can make automatic weekly donations of $3 or more to our coverage fund. This will keep Kevin fed and clothed while he embeds himself in the heart of the OWS movement and keeps us all updated on what’s happening.
You, the FDL readership, helped make this coverage possible. Your support kept Kevin typing, and that’s helped keep the movement alive long enough to catch fire around the nation and the globe. Because of you, a movement that the mainstream press confidently predicted would fizzle out after a day or two has not only endured, but spread. It is fast becoming Occupation Everywhere, and while you may or may not be able to stand next to Kevin as he sends out his widely-praised dispatches, you can do something every bit as important, and help him as effectively as if you were carrying his backpack for him.
Thank you all so much for your support.
