Last week, we saw the return of “stop complaining” — and now it looks like “we suck less” is back, too.

The vice president also said voters should compare the Obama-Biden ticket to whoever the Republicans put up, citing a comment once made by a mayor facing re-election.

Look, don’t compare me to the Almighty — compare me to the alternative,” the vice president said. “That’s what’s going to happen here.

Sound familiar? It should. Here’s the Vice President in September 2010, before the midterms.

At a fundraiser in Manchester, NH, today, Vice President Biden urged Democrats to “remind our base constituency to stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives.”

How’d that work out for you last time, Joe?

I simply don’t understand what they’re thinking. This didn’t work last time, and it won’t work now.

The fact is, a potential President Willard just doesn’t look that frightening to most Americans. And why should it? Obama passed his health care bill.

The bottom line is the White House is going to have to make an affirmative argument for what they’re going to do if they get re-elected — whether they like it or not. If they think their path to victory is hippie punching and screaming “Romney is scary!” — they’re sadly mistaken.
