End the death penalty

This is the closest we’ve come to being able to petition the government directly.

I used the new whitehouse.gov petition page to make a petition to end the death penalty. Go sign it.

Here’s what I wrote:

Murder is no less a crime when done in the name of justice.

We know our system is imperfect, and we must communicate our awareness of this to the world and future generations.

They must know that, despite our flaws, we sought to prevent the worst consequences of our errors.

Death is permanent, but our errors can be corrected. Let’s do that and abolish the death penalty.
