It’s Gonna Be a Weird, Weird Election

Even if Bizarro Kerry doesn’t end up as the Republican nominee, this is definitely going to be the weirdest presidential election I’ve ever experienced.  Whether Obama is a stealth Republican or merely one of the most clueless and craven presidents of all time, it’s going to be almost impossible for me to say anything positive about him between now and election day.

On the other hand, it’s going to be hard to ignore Mitt Romney saying corporations are people, or Rick Perry saying Social Security and Medicare are unconstitutional, or insanely shariaphobic Herman Cain’s touching (if somewhat confused) affection for Donna Summer Pokémon lyrics, or whatever Michele-Bachmann-is-crazy-and/or-corrupt story happens to be in the news on a particular day.

So I wanted to make it clear that just because attacking the opposition is something a candidate’s supporters usually do, that’s not why I do it.  When you see me calling Mitt Romney a corporate wanker or Michele Bachmann an insane fantasist, it’s not because I’m any kind of Obama loyalist, it’s because I don’t like corporate wankers or insane fantasists.  And if you wait a few days, you’ll probably see me calling Obama a corporate wanker too.

The enemy of my enemies is not my friend.  Especially when I’m not so sure he’s really their enemy.
