Hey FireDogs. Like a lot of you I am feeling pretty damn well beaten down after witnessing the sickening kabuki of the past several days. I have no answers. I do have a need to “do” something. I am preparing to attend the “Stop the Machine” protests in DC come October.
I first picked up a guitar in 1964, so it isn’t surprising that John Lennon had a huge influence on my life. Hard to believe that he has been gone from us for 31 years now come December the 8th.
I don’t do well in general if I don’t pick up a guitar every day. So one of the things that I have been doing to prepare for what I hope will be an extended, productive stay in our nation’s capitol, is re-learning some portions of my repertoire to prepare for all the time spent not actively protesting. Other than my blogging here at the Lake I am not a digital junkie. Never watch tv anymore, and don’t really care for telephones much.
So I intend to bring along four guitars, and a battery powered amp and PA. My practicing during this disheartening past week, of course led me to John.
And Yes….I do know that the next one is a George Harrison tune….it’s my diary.
