The other day KellyC had a beethoven diary and what popped into my head was Chuck Berry’s Roll Over Beethoven’.
(Mea Culpa; I’ve a rock and roll heart and my soul has been psychedelicized; I do like some classical music but prefer Bach to Beethoven and my favorite ‘classical’ music is Ravel’s Bolero -‘commonized’ by Jeff Beck and “Also sprach Zarathustra” by Strauss)
While looking up the apropos youtube for ChuckB, I noticed an ‘idol’ of mine growing up on the right hand side(besides his music, I looked a lot like him -but blond- and could sing just like him so that’s why he was an ‘idol’). I’m speaking of Buddy Holly who died way before his time -musically- was up.
And then i got to thinking of how the music themes of ‘then’ contrasted to ‘now’ and thought that such a contrast said a lot about U.S. culture and attitudes between then and now. So here’s one of the contrasts I see.

Popular music reflects current social perspectives and I find it most interesting to consider how and what has changed; hope you also find it interesting. At a minimum.
