Majority Want All American Troops in Afghanistan Home Now

In the past month there has been a massive surge in the number of Americans who want all American troops brought back from Afghanistan as soon as possible. There is now a solid majority of 56 percent who want all the troops removed as soon as possible, while only 39 percent keep troops in Afghanistan until the country is stabilized.

Across the board every age group and political leaning has become more supportive of bring all the troops home now. Interestingly, the largest increase in support for quickly withdrawing troops over that past year has been among Democrats and Republicans that agree with the Tea Party.

With President Obama planning to keep tens of thousand of American troops in Afghanistan for several more years, this growing desire to bring all the troops home could quickly become a serious political liability for Obama in 2012.

The American people’s patience with the war in Afghanistan has official run out.
