Accountability Model
This is something that we use at work pretty extensively (in one form or another — h/t www.impaqcorp.com )… and it seems that we here (on the Blend) could benefit from it as well.
The steps are pretty straightforward:
- Identify your situation — and be honest about it.
- Clarify intentions
- Take stock as to where you are — upper or lower loop.
- Figure out what you can do differently
- Take action

Sorry for the lack of a graphic, but you get the drift about being either in an upper or lower loop.
Being in the lower loop from time to time is natural — we all need to vent to stay sane — but staying there gets you nowhere and drives others away… so the choice is accountability or victimhood.
Which brings me to the point of this post — how do we, as a community, keep ourselves in the upper loop?
