The Democratic Leadership Council, the iconic centrist organization of the Clinton years, is out of money and could close its doors as soon as next week, a person familiar with the plans said Monday. [link added]
The Progressive Policy Institute, the place for pragmatic progressives, according to the Progressive Fix website, will carry the DLC banner in the future, according to Smith. The PPI was once a part of the DLC.
What does this collapse mean? It seems to mean that the reform-minded members of the Democratic Party will no longer have the DLC to kick around although the spirit that drove the DLC over the decades will remain intact.
