On Tuesday, January 4, I brought frozen breastmilk to the airport to take home with me after a week-long vacation. I spent 45 minutes repeatedly requesting the alternate screening for medical liquids (like breastmilk) and even reading the TSA’s own regulations to the officers, while I held my infant in my lap. The TSOs refused. In the end, I was forced to put my milk through the x-ray machine, or I wouldn’t have been allowed to pass through security. I was shaken and crying. I felt bullied and belittled. I felt violated and seriously wronged.
